December 2017:
A celebration at the monthly Friday lunch last month when we celebrated with Bridget and Brian their wonderful 50 years of marriage. Brother Chris presents a bottle of bubbly to Bridget as a thanks from all the Circle for many more happy years together. At their Mass of thanksgiving Fr Saju asked Bridget what one factor kept their marriage together and without hesitation Bridget replied ‘tolerance’ not sure Fr Saju expected that response!!

Brother John receiving a bottle of something special from Brother Chris on his birthday at the special Friday monthly lunch that John has organised for many years. It was a double celebration as Elsie his good lady of many years also let slip that it was exactly 70 years to the day since they first met. Elsie told her Mother that she had met the man she was to marry!! Her Mother was naturally very defensive but Elsie was determined and we look forward to celebrating many more years of John and Elsie at these monthly lunches.

Herding Cats - Bromley Circle's 1100 Meeting
The expression "herding cats" is taken to mean doing something that is very difficult. Until Monday 16 October I had always thought that this referred to felines. Now I believe that it refers to Catenians! Trying to get the 51 brothers, 29 visitors and 22 Bromley Brothers to assemble for the 'team' photo at the end of the meeting was nigh on impossible, but we managed it - just.
Highlight of the evening was the enrolment of new brother Richard Boyle who is seen sitting in the middle of the front row. The front row reading left to right is Bromley President Chris Cava holding a very large cup which Bromley previously won, Past Grand President John Rayer, Provincial Director Peter Stevens, Richard Boyle, Guest of Honour National VP John Hogan, Provincial President Danny Lonergan and Bromley's Elder Statesman Roy Parker.
After the meeting and photo there was just about enough time for an informal supper after which we were entertained and enlightened by an excellent speech from John Hogan who replied to the toast to the guests proposed by Bromley President Chris Cava.
All in all an excellent way to celebrate 1100 meetings.

2015 Events

Brother Aidan is a very dear friend of ours. His future daughter in law, Billie, was diagnosed with leukaemia on Friday 4 September. She decided that she would have her very long hair cut, so that it could be used to make a wig for children. She wanted to do this before she starts on her treatment and so had it cut on  11 September.

As you can imagine Aidan is very proud of Billie and already thinks of her as his daughter. He is also so impressed with her  can do attitude.

To support Billie and to raise funds for McMillan Cancer we "Braved the Shave" and lost our greying locks"!  Not that Aidan had much to lose!!
